Job Description Overview
IMS is currently seeking a General Ledger Controller with three to five years of experience. The General Ledger Controller is responsible for preparation of monthly financials for multiple schools with accuracy and in a timely manner. The daily work includes balance sheet reconciliations, payroll posting, financial statement analysis, bank reconciliations, intercompany analysis, lease agreement review, maintain fixed asset listing, posting revenue reports, and maintaining proper accruals. The position will primarily focus on the not for profit accounting division that services Independence Mission Schools. This position requires location flexibility between the King of Prussia accounting office and Philadelphia school locations. The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, extremely organized and have the willingness to learn.
Job Responsibilities:
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and subsidiary ledgers monthly.
- Create and enter all monthly journal entries.
- Reconcile cash accounts and prepare bank statement reconciliations, daily cash posting.
- Prepare detailed schedules monthly for audit.
- Maintain fixed asset workbook and depreciation schedules.
- Prepare monthly financial reports including forecast modeling and consolidation reports.
- Monthly accruals of expenses and utilities.
- Reconcile credit card statements, employee benefits, payroll.
- Annual budget development and collaboration with the operations team.
- Other duties as assigned by VP of Accounting or CFO.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Knowledge and a general understanding of accounting procedures.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business.
- 3-5 years general ledger accounting experience.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Highly organized, methodical, disciplined, and detail oriented. Accurate and timely data input skills are essential.
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- Strong leadership, planning, and problem solving skill.
- Proven ability to plan, organize and prioritize tasks within time constraints.
- Proficient in MS office products.
- Avid, Sage Intacct and Paylocity experience preferred
